Description: evergreen shrub; a widespread species and considered to be the hardiest cistus species with some populations found as high as 2000 m. elevation in Europe. Vigorous growth, dark green foliage and attractive cinnamon-red bark that peels in old age. Pure white flowers (5.5 cm.) in late spring and summer.

Care: tip-pruning after flowering (especially in the first couple of years) will result in a more attractive, compact plant. Cistus generally won't tolerate or regenerate from hard pruning of older, woody growth.
