Description: evergreen shrub; robust, bushy growth and dark purple flower spikes on mid-length stems. Especially cold hardy and bred for performance in the high desert regions of New Mexico and Colorado. Excellent cut flowers.

Stem length: 8-10 in.  

Corolla: dark violet

Calyx: dark violet-blue

Bloom season: early summer

Best Uses: landscaping, rock gardens, culinary, bouquets


Origin: a 2019 introduction by the late David Salman of High Country Gardens selected from seedlings of 'Munstead Violet' (another introduction of his). 


Position: full sun and well-draining soil

Drought: adapted to 3 months of summer drought
