Lavandula angustifolia 'Alpine White'

Description: evergreen shrub; a rare, miniature lavender that thrives in containers and rock gardens. Pure white flower spikes on very short stems held just above the foliage. 


Height: to 8 in. Spread: to 10 in.


Habit: rounded, compact

Stem length: 3-4 in.  

Corolla: pure white

Calyx: sage green

Bloom season: early summer

Best Uses: culinary, rock gardens, containers


Origin: raised in Victoria, B.C. prior to 1995


Position: full sun and well-draining soil


Winter Hardiness: to 0 F and below


Drought: adapted to 3 months of summer drought

Notes: we originally acquired and sold this cultivar as 'Alpine Alba' but later changed it to 'Alpine White' because it is quite frowned upon to use Latin words in the names of plant cultivars that originated after the 1950s.
