Lavandula angustifolia 'Blue Mountain White'

Description: evergreen shrub; compact growth and sweetly fragrant, pure white flower spikes on mid-length stems. Excellent for low hedges or containers.

Corolla: pure white

Calyx: sage green and somewhat woolly

Origin: a cultivar sold for decades as 'Alba' in New Zealand and thought to have been raised by Stan Hughes of Blue Mountain Nurseries. In 2002, its foliage was determined to be inconsistent with 'Alba' and it was renamed by Simon Charlesworth of Downderry Nursery to 'Blue Mountain White'
