Description: evergreen shrub; compact growth and sweetly fragrant, violet-blue flower spikes on mid-length stems. One of our personal favorites as well as a best seller. An excellent culinary lavender with high quality essential oil.

Height: to 30 in. Spread: to 3 ft.

Stem length: 8-10 in.  

Corolla: violet-blue

Calyx: dark purple, sage green at the base

Bloom season: early summer

Best Uses: landscaping, culinary, bouquets, potpourri, crafts, essential oil

Origin: a blue-flowered counterpart to 'Lullaby' (pink-flowered) raised by Peter Carter of New Zealand in the mid 1990s

Position: full sun and well-draining soil

Winter Hardiness: to 0 F and below

Drought: adapted to 3 months of summer drought
