Lavandula angustifolia 'New Zealand Blue'

Description: evergreen shrub; fragrant, violet-blue flower spikes on mid-length stems. One of our top recommendations for culinary use.

 

Height: to 2 ft. Spread: to 3 ft.


Stem length: 10-12 in.

Winter Hardiness: to 0 F and below


Drought: adapted to 3 months of summer drought

Notes: we purchased this as 'Pacific Blue' in 2011 from New Zealand but upon flowering it was evident that it was definitely not 'Pacific Blue'. We contacted the nursery we acquired it from and, together, decided it was a sport or a seedling from one of their plants so we named it 'New Zealand Blue' and introduced it in 2015.
