Lavandula angustifolia 'Alpine White'

Description: evergreen shrub; raised in Victoria, B.C. around 1995. A rare, miniature lavender that thrives in containers and rock gardens. Compact growth and sweetly fragrant, pure white flower spikes on very short stems held just above the foliage. The delicately fragrant flower buds are a popular addition to desserts in which only a very mild hint of lavender is desired.


Height: to 8 in. Spread: to 10 in.

Position: full sun and well-draining soil


Winter Hardiness: to 0 F and below


Drought: adapted to 3 months of summer drought

Notes: we originally acquired and sold this cultivar as 'Alpine Alba' but later changed it to 'Alpine White' because it is quite frowned upon to use Latin words in the names of plant cultivars that originated after the 1950s.
