Description: evergreen shrub; vigorous, robust growth and very fragrant, mauve flower spikes on exceptionally long stems. Popular for crafts and bouquets but not considered suitable as an essential oil plant.

Corolla: pale violet

Calyx: sage green with a trace of dark purple

Bloom season: mid summer

Best Uses: bouquets, crafts, potpourri, landscaping


Origin: uncertain, possibly Canada (mid 1950s or earlier)


Position: full sun and well-draining soil


Winter Hardiness: to 0 F and below


Drought: adapted to 4 months of summer drought
