Description: a mat-forming species from Corsica and Sardinia with dark green foliage and a very strong caraway scent. Blooms pale mauve flowers in summer.

Position: full sun and well-draining soil
Uses: culinary- as a substitue for caraway or in any recipe that calls for thyme (also used in medieval England to flavor barons of beef hence herba-barona). ornamental- as a small scale groundcover, to attract pollinators
