Description: perennial; allegedly a named form of S. bellum but hard to believe being that it is completely sterile and will not set copious amounts of seed like the species. Sky blue flowers bloom on and off throughout the summer

Sisyrinchium 'Devon Skies'


Common name(s): blue-eyed grass


Description: perennial; a sterile hybrid purportedly found as a chance seedling in the garden of Rita and Edmond Heaton, who curated the national collection of sisyrinchium in the U. K. Forms a rounded clump of broad, leaf blades and blooms large blue flowers off and on from late spring into autumn.

Sisyrinchium 'E.K. Balls'


Common name(s): blue-eyed grass


Description: perennial; a sterile hybrid cultivar that originated in the U.K. Particularly narrow leaf blades and purple-blue flowers in late spring and throughout the summer.


Height: to 6 in. Spread: to 10 in.

Sisyrinchium 'Quaint & Queer'


Description: perennial; a sterile cultivar of hybrid origin. Forms a clump of narrow leaf blades with flowers held on long stems above the foliage. Nobody can agree on the color of the flowers and it has been described from tan-yellow to flushed purple to "milk chocolate brown." Blooms from late spring on and off throughout the summer.

Sisyrinchium 'Rocky Point'


Description: perennial; a selection of S. bellum collected from Rocky Point near Carmel, California and introduced by Native Sons Nursery. Larger flowers and more vigorous than typical forms of S. bellum. Curiously won't set seed like the species. Forms a clump of wide leaf blades and blooms large purple-blue flowers in spring and on and off throughout the summer.

Sisyrinchium 'Stripey'


Description: perennial: an attractive variegated form of sisyrinchium with pale yellow leaf margins that are further highlighted by sky blue flowers in late spring and throughout the summer. Forms a tidy clump.
